For many years we have had an active Heritage Open Week to allow people in for free or to open up places that are not usually open. This weekend the Cleveland Pools have been opened up and I did some volunteer stewarding on Sunday afternoon. The Cleveland Pools are the only Georgian lido in the country and an alliance of volunteers, business and charity are working in alliance to restore them. The negotiations to transfer them from the Council to the new trust are nearly completed.
Today talked to several people who had swum in the pools in the 50’s and 60’s. They all remembered the water as very cold!!
